About the Performance Programme

The UK Sport funded Pentathlon GB Performance Programme supports elite pentathletes in their quest to win medals at the Olympic Games or other Major Championships.

Athletes are nominated for the WCP to further the aim of Pentathlon GB to win medals at Los Angeles 2028 or Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

We have six stages in our pentathlon GB Pathway

Our Talent Pathway has been designed to allow for fluid transitions within the pathway,
and multiple entry and exit points for athletes, depending on their stage of development.

Clubs

Clubs

Clubs offer most young athletes their first exposure to the sport and allow children to begin to explore the sport and develop what we hope is a lifelong love for Pentathlon.

All club coaches and athletes can link into our family of sports; Laser Run; Biathle; Triathle; Fencing & Swimming and experience all the elements of Pentathlon.

Hubs

Hubs

Pentathlon Hubs are currently run nationally across England and Scotland, with a hub coming soon in Wales.

These are designed to expose athletes to variations of Pentathlon (Biathlon, Triathlon & Tetrathlon) and explore its associated disciplines. The hubs provide greater support for athletes to develop their skills.

Talent & Development Groups

Talent & Development
Groups

The Talent & Development Groups are the first purely performance focused step and is for athletes from the ages of 13 to 19.

This is a decentralised programme which support athletes at camps throughout the year. These camps vary in location depending on their purpose.

Junior Academy

Junior Academy

The Junior Academy programme supports Athletes from 16 to 22 years old. These Athletes are supported by Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) and are mainly based at our National Training Centre at the University of Bath.

There are a number of high-potential athletes supported at School or College.

Podim Potential

Podium
Potential

Podium Potential is the first rung of the UK Sport funded World Class Programme and contains athletes who are around 8 years or closer away from the podium at World Championships or Olympic Games.

Podium

Podium

Podium itself is where our very best athletes reside - it is for true World leading medal winning athletes.

How to be selected?

Pentathlon GB must be confident that any athlete nominated for the WCP has the realistic potential and demonstrable performance capability and capacity to make the necessary progress to achieve a medal at least in one of the next two Olympic Games.

PGB are committed to the principle that winning will always be achieved with integrity and in line with UK Sport's ambition of "Keep Winning and Win Well".

All at Pentathlon GB would like to thank UK Sport and the National Lottery for their continued investment in the World Class Programme. Their support is essential in helping our athletes be the best prepared they can be for the biggest competitions in our sport.
