Mixed Relay Bronze at the U19 World Championships

Team GB demonstrated a bright future for modern pentathlon in this country with a good set of results at the UIPM U19 World Championships in Lithuania last week – including a bronze medal.

Although there was no podium place for our U19 squad in the individual events, Chloe Johnson and Sebastian Forrest took home a bronze medal for their efforts in the Mixed Relay. A tight competition throughout, the pair held their nerve in the Laser Run to secure third place.

I knew I had it in my legs, I’m just happy it paid off at the range.

Chloe said: “We definitely came here after the fence hoping for a medal and we’re really glad we got it. For me, the Laser Run is one of the toughest bits. I was just here to give it everything I had. I think I did that.”

Her teammate Sebastian added: “I had been disappointed with my individual this week, mainly struggling in the range and the fence, so the first shoot was a bit off par but then back to what I like to say is normal in the final shoot.”

All four of our Team GB female athletes also qualified for the Women’s Individual final. Chloe Johnson finished 10th, Zoe Spokes 13th, Elizabeth Ryan in 26th and Emily Carman in 30th. In the Men’s individual, Sebastian Forrest secured 18th and Jack Murray 30th.
