We’re launching a new series – Meet The Team! We’ll be profiling members of the Pentathlon GB team & wider community every fortnight, to put a spotlight on some of the great people in our sport. First up, our Operations Officer Tom Gostelow faces our questions…
At PGB Since: February 2023
Favourite thing about working for PGB: Working with the PGB team to showcase Pentathlon through our events and competitions and also activation events with schools and clubs. Nothing more powerful than sport.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve done at PGB: Being involved with many community and youth sport events and seeing how excited and engaged young people get in sport. It’s great to see how excited someone gets when they can have a go at Laser Run or Fencing.
What’s your favourite hobby outside of work: Running. I’m a keen distance runner so if you need me, chances are I’m on a run!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go: Yosemite National Park
If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why: Kevin Sinfield, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Rowan Atkinson
KS – a hugely talented and successful player, since helped Leicester Tigers to a Premiership win in 2022 following an unsuccessful decade for the club, plus his work for the MND community and fundraising is inspirational.
JEH – Heptathlon legend and performances at home OLY in London was fantastic to watch. Impressive how she came back from giving birth to her son to win World Gold and OLY Silver and would have some great stories.
RA – I’ve loved his comedy programmes – especially Blackadder – would be fascinating to see how his mind works and how he thinks of the comedy he does!
Do you have a hidden talent: ?
What is your guilty pleasure: I have a sweet tooth so most things pudding-related!
What’s the best thing about our sport? The uniqueness of the activities, it’s something different and there are so many different skills and strengths across the disciplines that make up our sport.
