Meet the Team – Martin Rush

Meet The Team returns! We’ll be profiling members of the Pentathlon GB team & wider community, to put a spotlight on some of the great people in our sport. This time it’s our Run Coach, Martin Rush who faces the questions…

At PGB Since: July 2023.

Favourite thing about working for PGB: Team camaraderie.

If you weren’t in your current role, what would you be?: Athletics run coach.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve done at PGB: Had the privilege of watching two Olympic Champions Kate French and Joe Choong fence each other in South Africa at a training camp.

If you could switch jobs with anyone on the team for a day, who would it be and why:The Swim Coach, but only when it’s a freezing northerly wind on the athletics track as they get to stay on a warm poolside!

What’s your favourite hobby outside of work: Mountain hiking

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go: The Alps

If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why: Barrack Obama (he must have some great stories about world leaders), David Bowie (legend of the music world and a fascinating chameleon of an individual) and Serena Williams (to talk about her journey and life at the top of sport)

Do you have a hidden talent: I can click my tongue really loudly….

What is your guilty pleasure: Lake District Distillery, Single malt whisky, The one.

What’s the best thing about our sport? The complexity of our sport – it’s the challenge we relish!

Give Pentathlon GB A Try.
