Pentathlon GB launch Laser Shoot Coaching Qualification

Pentathlon GB are delighted to announce the launch of our new Laser Shoot Coaching Qualification and Pathway.

Following its introduction from the UIPM ahead of London 2012, all Pentathlon GB competitions transferred to fully laser shooting at the beginning of 2017. This has created a need to develop coaches with specialist skills to deliver quality Laser Shoot coaching to all British athletes.

We are now in a position to launch the new Pentathlon GB Laser Shoot Coaching Pathway, enabling coaches to become qualified to coach Laser Shooting and sign athletes off for their Laser Shooting certificates.

The Laser Shoot Coaching qualification is designed to be delivered and assessed using a combination of theoretical and practical work. Modules will include key communication knowledge and skills, health and safety, setting up and safely running a laser range, planning and equipment knowledge. Each module has been designed to fully prepare coaches for running Laser Shooting sessions and will be delivered by a Laser Shooting Coach Educator.

Dates for all arranged courses will be announced on the Pentathlon GB website with the first Laser Shoot Coaching Qualification course being held at Ashville Harrogate on Saturday 15th July.

All of the initial coaching qualification courses will be followed by a two-hour coaching assessment from a Laser Shooting Coach Assessor, once the candidate has completed a four-month probation period. A comprehensive course booklet will also be included in the £60 course fee.

After achieving the Laser Shoot Coaching Qualification and completing a successful probation period and assessment, coaches will become a valuable addition to the Pentathlon GB coaching workforce.

Prior to the completion of the course, candidates who wish to teach children must have in place a SCUK Safeguarding and Child Protection Course or have taken the CPSU Online Introduction to Safeguarding. Additionally, a recognised First Aid qualification and DBS check will be required. For insurance purposes, all candidates completing the coaching course will need to be Pentathlon GB members.
