Jo Muir & Myles Pillage claim World Cup silver

Jo Muir and Myles Pillage completed a wonderful weekend for Pentathlon GB with a silver medal in the World Cup 2 Mixed Relay today. The National Training Centre based duo performed extremely well all day in Cairo, maintaining a position in the medal positions throughout, to claim the first World Cup medal of their careers. It followed up a sensational Saturday which saw Kate French claim individual gold in the Women’s event at World Cup 2 with Charlie Follett securing silver at the Swiss Women International.

Story of the day

The competition began in the pool where the British duo clocked a 1:56.81, the quickest time of the day. Excellent fencing from both Dumfries’ Jo and Plymouth’s Myles saw them secure 21 victories and 21 defeats in the fencing ranking round before losing out to Russia in the bonus round. However, a strong morning overall meant the two Pentathlon GB athletes were sat in 3rd after the opening two disciplines in the Egyptian capital.

A fantastic round in the riding arena by 22 year-old Jo and 19 year-old Myles meant they picked up 295 points to top the discipline standings, moving them up to 2nd ahead of the closing laser-run. It was a position former Scottish Saltires athlete Jo and ex Plymouth College Head Boy Myles held throughout the 3,200m course, comfortably fending off the challenge of Hungary to claim a fine silver medal.
