Hannam and Sutton set to make senior debuts in Hungary

The 2017 Modern Pentathlon season begins in Budapest this weekend with Bradley Sutton and Georgia Hannam set to make their senior international debuts at the Hungarian Indoor Competition.

The duo transferred to Pentathlon GB’s National Training Centre in September and will form part of a 6 strong Pentathlon GB Team heading to the season’s traditional curtain raiser.

In the men’s team, Bradley will be joined by Romford’s Tom Toolis who finished 2nd in the first 2017 National Ranking Competition earlier this month. The 24 year old now has vast experience on the international stage and has competed in Hungary many times during his career, including at the same competition back in 2012.

In the women’s team, Georgia H will be joined by Charlie Follett, Georgia Pipes and Kerenza Bryson. Charlie was another athlete who moved to Bath in September where she combines training with studying for a Psychology degree. Georgia P, a Junior World Championships team silver medallist in 2015 will be making her first international appearance since June when she made the final of the Junior European Championships.

Despite being just 20, the Easingwold born athlete will be the most experienced member of the women’s team and looking to get her final year as a Junior aged athlete off to a strong start internationally. The final member of the team, Kerenza, is currently based at Plymouth Studio School and has started 2017 in good form having finished as the top British athlete in a fencing event in Dijon before placing 6th at Pentathlon GB’s first National Ranking Competition of the year two weeks ago.

The event in the Hungarian Capital starts a busy 2017 season for Pentathlon GB athletes with the first World Cup of the year in Los Angeles now less than a month away and a Youth Olympic Games continental qualifier and the new U23 European Championships both added to a traditionally packed calendar.
