Coaching Conference returns to Manchester in 2017

Pentathlon GB are delighted to announce that we will be hosting the World Modern Pentathlon Coaches Conference (WMPCC) once again in 2017. The event will run from 10-12 November and be held at the Manchester Conference Centre for the 5th consecutive year.

The conference is the only event of its type in the modern pentathlon calendar as coaches are provided with a unique opportunity to meet and debate a range of coaching matters.

Last year nearly 100 delegates from across the World attended the conference, sharing valuable insights into modern pentathlon and discussing working practices and experiences to help develop their understanding and knowledge of the sport.

Past keynote speakers have included experts in their field such as psychiatrist Dr Steve Peters, Great Britain Eventing team boss Yogi Breisner and World Medal winning epee coach Dr Gabor Salamon.

Confirmed keynote speakers for this year’s conference include leading modern pentathlon coaches Jan Bartu, Christian Roudaut and Alex Franca. They will be joined by Pentathlon GB’s Performance Analyst Connor Wicheard, French Modern Pentathlon’s Fencing Master Michel Sicard, Sleep coach Nick Littlehales and UK TASS Lead Guy Taylor to give attendees an insight into all aspects of training that help coaches ensure their athletes are performing at the peak of their abilities.

The conference is supported by the World Governing Body, the UIPM, with Secretary General Shiny Fang attending last year’s event.

Stuart Mason, Pentathlon GB Pathway Manager and Coaching Conference organiser commented “Each year we have tried to lift the level of the conference by engaging the best Keynote Speakers available to us and again this year I think we have achieved this. In addition to the list above we also have Lara Prior Palmer presenting, the only lady to compete in the Mongolian 100 mile horse race. Not only did Lara compete, but she won the event and her story is inspirational.

“We have also engaged the Jump Master from the Red Devils High Performance Parachute Display Team to tell us about ‘small margins and marginal gains’. This year we have decided to commission a Conference App, ensuring attendees gain the maximum benefit from the event. The App will be available to download from the Apple Store and make all of the conference information easily accessible and available in one place, as well as providing updates during the 3 days.”

The World Modern Pentathlon Coaches Conference is recommended for all coaches who want to develop and improve their understanding, techniques and practices of Modern Pentathlon by learning from some of the best coaches in the world and Pentathlon GB would be delighted if you would join us for this unique event.
